ORANGE BEACH, Ala (WALA) - Monday, February 11, the City of Orange Beach EMA said it is keeping a watchful eye on the weather in conjunction with the National Weather Service.
Due to morning forecasts of scattered showers, officials with the City of Gulf Shores said the city is planning on rolling at 10 a.m Tuesday. They said, however, the latest models show the weather deteriorating starting in the early afternoon beginning around noon.
They said while everyone loves a parade and the economic impact it has on local retailers and restaurants, the safety of spectators and parade participants is of the utmost importance.
Officials said after the city’s public safety team takes a look at the Tuesday morning report from the National Weather Service, a decision will be made regarding the Orange Beach parade which is slated for a 2 p.m. start. Officials said this decision should be made no later than 9 a.m. Tuesday.
If the Gulf Shores parade proceeds as planned, officials said all walkers and riders for city floats need to be at Orange Beach City Hall at 8 a.m. to load up and head out by 8:30 a.m.
