BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WALA) - The mayor of Bay Minette is giving FOX10 details on the resignation of the city's fire chief.

Mayor Bob Wills said Phil Bryars resignation became effective Thursday, Feb. 14. Wills said the city council is scheduled to meet Tuesday night to talk about appointing assistant chief Mike Minchew as interim fire chief.

Wills says Bryars expressed interest in exploring other vocations, such as emergency management. The Mayor said Bryars has extensive experience in areas like hazardous material handling.
