BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WALA) - A possible lawsuit against the Cattle and Fair Association is once again on the agenda of the Baldwin County Commission.
The dispute stems from more than $150,000 in rent overpayments made to the Baldwin County Cattle and Fair Association as a result of complicated lease agreement and a changed contract for the Robertsdale Coliseum.
Two weeks ago, the Baldwin County Commissioners tabled a vote to take legal action against the county fair.
For two years, in 2009 and 2010, the county continued making $75,000 lease payments to the Fair Association even though the contract had been changed in 2008. The county says the association also owes another $30,000 in interest and fees.
The county demanded the money back in late 2011 but, so far, the Fair Association has not complied. The association has hired new attorneys and requested the vote be held off until the commission's meeting today.
FOX10 News Reporter Matt Barrentine is at today's commission meeting and will let you know if the Commission is going forward with a lawsuit. He'll have the details tonight at 5 p.m.
