Baldwin County deputies say Andrew Buettner was upset that his wife left him after they had an argument. He went to find her and their kids at a home on County Road 68.
Sheriff Huey Mack says that's where Buettner's in-laws live and the suspect thought his wife would be here. "The occupants of the dwelling informed him his family was not there and he should leave," said Mack, but Buettner didn't, so he tried to break-in.
That's when his brother-in-law grabbed a gun and shot Buettner in the chest. "Mr. Buettner was pronounced dead on the scene," said Mack.
Sheriff Mack says this is another example of what can happen when domestic violence spirals out of control, "He chose to go that residence and take the measures that he did. And unfortunately, resulted in his death." A death Mack says was driven by emotion.
Deputies say they will not file charges against the brother-in-law because he was defending himself and the family.
Also, this is the second violent domestic dispute investigated by Baldwin County deputies. Earlier this year a Rosington man poured gasoline on his wife and tried to burn her alive. But the wife was able to grab a gun and shoot him. He died at a local hospital.
