FOLEY, Ala. (WALA) - Foley officials say Tuesday, September 11, 2012, is the official new date for Foley’s 2012 Municipal General Election.

According to the City Municipal Clerk and Elections Manager Vicky Southern, the city has received approval from the Department of Justice for the rescheduled election date. The original date, August 28, was postponed due to the pending landfall of Hurricane Isaac.

Polls will open on Election Day at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. at the Foley Civic Center, located at 407 East Laurel Ave., Foley, Alabama.  In the event a run-off election becomes necessary, it will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012.

Southern said this is a postponement of the election, and anyone who has already voted absentee is considered to have voted in this election despite the date change.

The deadline for additional absentee voting for the rescheduled election date is 5 p.m. on September 6, 2012.

Applications may be obtained in the city clerk’s office or downloaded from the city’s website at www.cityoffoley.org
