FOLEY, Ala. (WALA) - Cars pass the makeshift memorial where 16-year-old Caitlin Buemi crashed her car Sunday.

Friends say she loved church, soccer, and eating out at Arby's Restaurant. She was a typical teenager who was headed down the right path.

"My favorite memory is getting to pray with her. That's a great memory that I will always have with her," said family friend Avery Forrest

Buemi was driving on Lawson Road when she had an accident near South Juniper Street. Police said she lost control, hit a telephone pole, and her car flipped into a ditch. She was taken to the hospital, where she died.

Since her immediate family is deaf, family friends spoke on their behalf.

"She has a great smile and she lit up the room. She just had a fun personality. Everybody loved her," said Forrest.

Buemi transferred from Gulf Shores High to Foley High School in late 2009.

"She's only been at Foley since December, but I think everybody knew her, because that's the type of person she was," she said.

The junior was scheduled to graduate next school term.

Visitation will be held Wednesday night from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Christian Life Church in Orange Beach. Her funeral will be there as well, on Thursday at 11 a.m.

Police have not said whether or not Buemi was wearing a seat belt. They have also not released what the cause of the accident was.
