BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WALA) - FOX10 News is starting to unravel the mystery surrounding the adults who were on Gravine Island last weekend when a 17-year-old girl was shot.

Thomas Dasinger is a Daphne lawyer hired by one of the three adults involved in the incident on Gravine Island early Sunday.

"I represent Wayne Hearn. And he and two other individuals were there with their wives, and they have ownership interest in the camp houses.  I think there are four or five camp houses right there together.  They're all friends.  They all have keys to the camp houses, and they kind of look out for each other," Dasinger said.

Dasinger said the group of adults had been on the island all weekend.  He described what they did when they heard something suspicious around 4 a.m.

"They heard what they thought were people vandalizing.  (They) didn't know if it was there, one of their camp houses, or one of their neighbors or what. They simply went to investigate, and it could not have turned out worse. "

Dasinger would not say if his client was one of the two people who fired weapons.  He did say there was never any intention to shoot anyone.

"All they wanted to do was just keep, what turned out to be kids, from vandalizing these other places. That was they're only intention," he said.

The attorney said after Summer Moody was shot two teenagers fled, and a third pulled the girl from the bushes calling for help.  According to Dasinger, it was the three adults who carried Moody by boat from the island to the landing where emergency crews could reach her.

"All these men feel horrible for what's happened. Just the situation that they were in and you always go back and ask the question, ‘What would you do if somebody's doing this to you and your property or anything else?’ And their intent was obviously never to injury anybody,” Dasinger said.

No charges have been filed against the adults, but Dasinger said he is concerned about that possibility.

"I do not want him to have any charges brought against him. There was never any intent to harm anyone, to do anything," Dasinger said.

We may soon have the names of the other two men involved.  The Baldwin County Sheriff's office said the names could be released Friday.
