Gulf State Park Pier to reopen

GULF SHORES, Ala. - The Gulf State Park Pier will reopen less than a month after it was damaged when Tropical Storm Ida washed ashore.

The Pier will reopen Wednesday, November 25, at 5:00 p.m.

The end portion is what was damaged. The 300 pound panels were blasted over 15 feet in the air, and came crashing down onto the pier. When that happened, some exposed plumbing and electrical lines were damaged.

The pier was damaged less than four months after it was reopened. It was destroyed by Hurricane Ivan in 2004. The new pier took nearly two years to rebuild, and cost $16 million.
