ROBERTSDALE, Ala. (WALA) - Hamilton County, Indiana is moving forward quickly with the prosecution of Micah Harrison of Robertsdale.

Harrison, 30, had his first court appearance Thursday in Hamilton Superior Court.  Harrison was arrested Wednesday and charged with the murder of his 2-year-old son Michael inside his parent’s apartment in Noblesville, Indiana.

Court documents state Harrison went to Indiana with his three children to visit his parents.

Jail personnel brought Harrison into court shackled and guarded by four deputies because he had scuffled with guards prior to the hearing.  A jail officer said Harrison has been on suicide watch.

According to an Associated Press report, when the County Magistrate read Harrison his rights, Harrison asked, “What about a right to a rope?”  I killed my poor little baby.  Please kill me,” Harrison begged.

Magistrate David Najjar appointed an attorney for Harrison and entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

According to a Noblesville Police Report, officers found young Michael inside his grandparent’s apartment with two stab wounds to the chest and one to the head.  The report states the chest wounds were from a knife and the one to the head from a nail puller.  The report went on to state that the boy’s grandmother Pamela Harrison told police she saw her son on top of the boy who was lying on the floor and watched him stab Michael with a knife.

According to Alabama court documents filed Wednesday, the children’s mother 25-year-old Megan Kelly said Harrison took the children to Indiana without permission.  The two were undergoing custody proceedings.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Lee Buckingham stated that he will consider seeking a sentence of life without parole.

The Hamilton County Magistrate has ordered Harrison to stay in jail without bond.  A trial date has been set for March 12.
