BAY MINETTE, Ala. - A trailer on Crosby Road is where Baldwin County deputies arrested 31-year-old Tommy Bryars and his wife, 24-year-old Leslie.
Sheriff Huey Hoss Mack says deputies found them with products to make meth. "It was discovered he had two to three grams of meth on his person," said Mack.
Detectives say Tommy Bryars also had a portable meth lab in his car. He tried to run from narcotics agents, but didn't get very far. Deputies say Bryars was trying to hide under a trailer. That's when they threatened to use a Taser and he scrambled out.
Officers then took both into custody. Just last month deputies were called to a home, after Leslie Bryars accidentally backed over her two-year-old son.
Leslie told investigators she was moving her car after she had washed it and never saw little Brady. At that point, deputies ruled their was no wrongdoing in the boy's death. "That case was investigated and it remains to have been an accident," said Mack. Mack says back then the two were victims, but now they are drug suspects.
Deputies say they are not expecting to file criminal charges in the death case, since news of this recent drug charge. However, both incidents remain under investigation.
