ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WALA) - Orange Beach police are working a shooting case that allegedly started out as road rage.
Police say they got a call around 11 a.m. Thursday about a shooting. It was at the intersection of Highways 161 and 182.
Witnesses say the alleged road rage incident started on the Perdido Pass Bridge. Both vehicles were heading westbound.
Officials say Damon Alan Hembree of McCalla, Ala., stopped at a traffic light at the intersection. They say he was driving a silver Ford Fiesta. Police say Steven Pinson pulled up behind Hembree, driving a pewter Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck.
Police say Hembree, who was visiting the area with his wife and two children, approached Pinson's vehicle. They say the two got into an argument and Pinson pulled out a .380-caliber handgun and shot Hembree in the chest.
Hembree was Life-Flighted to a Pensacola hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. Officials say they are looking at attempted murder charges against Pinson.
Orange Beach police are asking if anyone has any information on this incident, to give them a call at (251) 981-9777.
