BAY MINETTE, Ala. (WALA) - Bay Minette police said one man robbed his friend, got arrested, and now wants to return the stolen money.

“On Saturday, about 4 O' Clock in the evening, subject we know as Trevino Grace went to a 79-year-old male that he knew on Armstrong Street, and using a handgun robbed him of $300 cash,” said Bay Minette Police Sergeant Ray Dixon.

Authorities said the victim went to police and filed a report. Police then obtained a warrant for Grace's arrest.

We had been watching his residence, but he hadn't showed up,” said Dixon, “We got a tip that he might be at his mother's residence.”

Police said they identified a vehicle at her home that matched the suspect's car.  They waited for the driver to get in the car and leave.

“Once that vehicle left the residence, one of Bay Minette's police lieutenants identified the driver as Trevino Grace. A traffic stop was made on McMeans Avenue and the warrant was executed,” said Dixon.

Bay Minette police took Grace to the station for booking and then marched him across the street to the Baldwin County jail.

“According to the mother, the last three or four days have been rough for him; that he's just fallen on hard times,” said Dixon.

Dixon said they did not recover a pistol or cash when they arrested Grace, but will obtain a search warrant for his residence.

“According to the victim, he's called the victim back to try and return the money,” said Dixon.

Bay Minette Police said Grace was out on bond for a theft charge, they have asked a judge that his current bond be revoked.
