DAPHNE, Ala. (WALA) - A convicted sex offender in Daphne has been arrested after police said she had contact with her two victims.
Police said they have built their investigation over some time against Linda Gry Gates. They said there were emails, Facebook messages and, most recently, pictures from a ball with Gates and the victims in it.
The latest contact, police said, was at that Eastern Shore Mardi Gras ball earlier this month.
"The officer actually saw the sex offender at the Mardi Gras ball and noted while she was there, she was having contact with the victims. There were actually some pictures taken," said Cpl. Jason Vannoy.
Vannoy said the 67-year-old was convicted in February, 1991 and ordered not to have contact with her victims. Vannoy said investigators have been watching gates for some time.
"She was contacting them through email and Facebook," Vannoy said.
Vannoy said after the Mardi Gras ball earlier this month, investigators called Gates in.
"She was actually arrested at the police department. The officer called her in and did an interview with her," said Vannoy.
Gates is charged with two counts of an adult sex offender contacting a former victim.
Gates is being held in the Baldwin County jail without bond.
