FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WALA) - US Marshals arrested a man in Mississippi in connection to a homicide in Montrose.

Baldwin county officials said 22-year-old Immanuel Jenkins murdered a man on Monday, January 14, but authorities did not learn about it until Thursday.

Late Thursday night, Baldwin County authorities surrounded a mobile home on Parker Road for a homicide investigation. One neighbor told us she was shocked by the horde of investigators.

The woman said, "There was probably around eight or nine police cars. We saw an ambulance on the road. I thought somebody had gotten hurt."

Officials learned Donald Jefferson Howard was murdered on Monday, but a witness waited until Thursday to tell authorities.

So officials worked through the night and were back at the scene the next morning.

Neighbor John McDonald said, "It's surprising. You just don't expect that around here. It's a real quiet neighborhood."

Then on Friday morning, US Marshals and the Jackson county Sheriff's office arrested Jenkins for the crime.

Jenkins was found at a relative's home in St. Martin, Mississippi.

Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd said Howard had been shot eight times.

Neighbors said at least three men lived in this trailer.

At this time, authorities said they have not located Jefferson’s body.

Jenkins is being held at the Jackson county adult detention center and he's awaiting extradition.
