Authorities: missing woman has been found

FAIRHOPE, Ala. (WALA) - UPDATE Feb. 17, 2013, 8:15 p.m.: Officials tell FOX10 that Paige Roe, who was missing since Saturday, has been located alive.

Authorities said Roe was found near a building on the campus of Trinity Presbyterian Church on Mobile St. in Fairhope. Police said they had been investigating the area earlier.

Roe was put into an ambulance and transported to Thomas Hospital for treatment.

EARLIER: Fairhope Police received a call Saturday night about 49 year-old Paige Roe. Police began an official search for her Sunday morning, using helicopters and volunteers.

Family members said Roe left a note late Saturday afternoon at her Laurel Avenue home saying she went for a walk.

“She left for a walk yesterday afternoon somewhere between 4:30 and 5:00 and usually goes for a walk just about every day and hadn't returned home, so we don't know at this time what is going on, but we will continue the search,” said Fairhope Police Chief Joseph Petties.

Volunteers canvassed the walking path in Fairhope, handed out flyers with Roe's picture. Some were also posted on trees.

“We just want to find her, we just want to find her and get her back home so we can have more conversations,” said one concerned friend who wished to remain anonymous.

North Baldwin Sheriff's Search & Rescue said a neighbor saw Roe at her home around 4 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

“It's looking like she walked away from her home on a normal walk,” said James Phillips with the North Baldwin Sheriff’s Search & Rescue.

Roe's friends said she often walked alone through Fairhope, as many do in the bedroom community, but now, they need your help in trying to find her.

“Paige is a wonderful mother. She's got two incredible kids, and a loving husband. You can always find her helping out and volunteering both at school and with her children. She's the kind of friend you can call day or night and she's going to be there for you,” said Roe’s friend.

Phillips said his team used tracking dogs along paths that Roe would usually walk.

“The tracking dogs to try to pick up tracks to see if we could locate a trail where she might have gone; didn't have a lot of success with that,” said Phillips.

The search and rescue teams walked nearly 100 percent of an area that Roe would likely have walked, without finding any clues.

“We're just looking for someone to give us some information and get some direction here,” said Phillips.
