GULF SHORES, Ala. (WALA) - Four SEC greats took to the green with golf clubs in hand over the weekend. Football coaching legends took part in another commercial to promote Gulf Shores and Orange Beach tourism.
“We’re hoping that during some of the SEC games when they run some of these commercials that the people will see what you have here on the Gulf Coast and say you know I want to go down and spend a little vacation,” said Former Alabama coach Gene Stallings.
“You know it's going to make people aware that you are back in business in Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, and it should help the economy here,” said former Auburn coach Pat Dye.
The commercial’s producer, David Goldstein with MELT, said the commercial will highlight some of the most beautiful spots in south Alabama.
The shoot was all part of a corporate sponsorship between the two cities and the SEC.
Former LSU coach Jerry Stovall and former Tennessee coach Phil Fulmer were also involved in the production.
The commercial will feature all four coaches playing golf and will end at the Gulf Shores beach.
“The Gulf Coast is not what you've heard, it's not demolished, it's alive and well,” said Stovall.
“Well I'm hopeful that it'll help out. It's a gorgeous place and the SEC is involved,” said Fulmer.
The shoot also gave the coaches a chance to relive some friendly but intense rivalry.
Well you know we've been friends for a long time. Only time we're sort of enemies is when we line up against each other on that Saturday,” said Stallings.
The commercials will air during SEC football games.
