ROBERTSDALE, Ala. - It was a scary scene in Robertsdale, when a gunman opened fire inside a CVS Pharmacy. In an ironic twist, a witness said the suspect was hiding in the victim's car.

Jennie Nelson had a front row seat to the violent scene. She works across the street from the pharmacy.

"I heard the first two shots. I thought it was fireworks. It sounded just like firecrackers at first," Nelson said.

Nelson was taking a break outside when a man chased a woman inside the pharmacy with a gun. She didn't notice anything unusual until she heard gunshots.

"When he got to about the second parking space, that's when he held his hand up and I saw the gun. He ran into the store shooting again. He was shooting about two more times, shooting towards her," she said.

Police say it was a domestic dispute between a husband and wife. The man ran into the store, but ended up shooting and killing only himself.

Police haven't said how the man got to the store. But Nelson, who watched the scene from across the street, said she learned the man was inside the car, but the victim didn't know it.

"I found out later that he was in the trunk of her car. They found out he had been in there about a day and a half in her trunk, hiding," she said.

Nelson's first thought was that the man was getting something out of the trunk of the car. However, the man was actually getting out of the trunk himself.

"She opened the trunk and saw him, that's when she took off running. She saw him and she took off running, because you know he'd have to have time to get out of the trunk, you know. But when he got out of the trunk he just nonchalantly took off walking before he started shooting, like no big deal," Nelson said.

Fox10 News asked the witness why he was hiding there to begin with?

"He thought the girlfriend was cheating on him, so I guess he lost it," Nelson said.

Nelson was not sure of the relation between the victim and the suspect, but police say that the victim of the gunman was his wife.

Nelson said the pharmacist was inside the store with the frightened woman. Both women were reportedly together when the man pointed the gun at his wife and then turned it on himself.

Nelson saw another man inside the car with the victim. According to Nelson, he never got out of the car.

Robertsdale Police have not released any names.
