ORANGE BEACH, Ala. (WALA) - Hundreds came out to the 2012 Healthy Women's expo at The Wharf in Orange Beach Thursday night.
The event, em-ceed by FOX10 News Anchor Lenise Ligon, kicked off at 6 p.m. with registration and a social. The welcome and invocation begins at 7 p.m.
This year's keynote speaker is Elizabeth Smart who was kidnapped in 2002 at the age of 14 and held captive for nine months.
Ligon spoke with her before the event. She said having a positive outlook can make big difference.
"Everyone has their trials. Everyone has those days where you're just like, 'Could it get any worse?' I mean, I still have those days but we all have a choice. And no matter how bad things get, we don't have to let those obstacles, that opposition define who we are. We can chose to say, 'Yes, this has happened to me, and I'm going to work through it. And I know it won't be 100 percent easy tomorrow morning but I'm going to do my best,'" said Smart.
