Stuff the Truck held at Fairhope Walmart

Bay Area Food Bank is partnering with Walmart Supercenter in Fairhope to host a Stuff the Truck food drive as part of Walmart’s Fighting Hunger Together Initiative. The drive will beheld from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Most needed items:

Canned Meats
Canned Vegetables
Canned Fruits
Canned and Boxed Meals
Peanut Butter

Items they cannot accept:

Rusty or Unlabeled Cans
Homemade Items
Non-Commercial Canned or Packaged Items
Alcoholic Beverages
Open or Used Items

In addition to the food drive, Bay Area Food Bank is eligible to win up to $1.75 million in the Walmart Fighting Hunger Together Facebook Contest.

The contest selected 200 U.S. communities hardest hit by the economy.

The winning communities will be decided by Facebook users to as to who will receive a portion of $2 million.

The community with the most votes will receive $1 million to split among its charitable feeding organizations and the top 20 communities will each receive $50,000 to split.

Due to Bay Area Food Bank’s vast service area, it could receive funding for four different communities – Mobile, Ala.; Pensacola/Ferry Pass, Fla.; Biloxi/Gulfport and Pascagoula, Miss.

Facebook users can vote for each community every 24 hours through April 30.
