ELBERTA, Ala. (WALA) - Elberta police say 22-year-old Kyle Edward Black was pulled over for driving erratically, and the officers noticed he had cocaine in the car. He also had a small child in the back seat.

Officials say they originally handcuffed his hands behind his back, but the baby wouldn't stop crying so they handcuffed him around front so he could take care of the child.

Authorities say they called the baby’s mother. Police say when she arrived up to get the baby, Black darted off into a field. Officers chased him and tackled him.

Police say Black gave them his brother’s name.

Black is charged with reckless endangerment, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, and using false identity to obstruct justice, and third degree escape.
