BALDWIN COUNTY, Ala. (WALA) - Before the fateful night on Gravine Island, the Loxley police said they had Dylan Tyree and Scott Byrd on their radar.

"There is quite a bit they were involved in here that was prior to the other incident that occurred,” said Lieutenant Doug Phillips Loxley Police Department.

Police said over the past three months, investigators suspected both Tyree and Byrd of a number of  crimes including criminal mischief, assault and third degree burglary.

Aside from the first degree burglary charges both of the teens face from Gravine Island, jail logs show Tyree faces 16 new charges and Byrd faces six.

Both were out on bail from their first degree burglary charges, now they are back in jail.

Loxley police said most of the crimes they investigated happened in Stapleton. Authorities said Stapleton Elementary, businesses and homes were all targeted.

"Some of the items that were taken ranged from electronic equipment, firearms, bow and arrows. There was a tanning bed taken, and I believe some exercise equipment,” said Phillips.

Police said a possible federal crime happened at a local post office.  They said an outdoor mail bin was broken into by one of the teens, and items inside were stolen.

Police said the Gravine Island incident had nothing to do with the new charges these two teens are facing.

“Irregardless of the Gravine Island, these charges were going forward,” said Phillips.

Police said Daniel Parnell, the third teen with Summer Moody on Gravine Island, was not involved in the burglary ring.
