GULF SHORES, Ala. (WALA) - A Family’s vacation in Gulf Shores took an unexpected turn over the weekend. Their car was stolen and totaled in a high speed chase.

The family from Lewisburg, Tenn. was ready for some rest and relaxation.

That was before their car was stolen by what police said was a seasoned criminal.

It started at Papa Roccos Resturant.

Keenen Crenshaw and his cousins went to pick up pizza.

"We went out to get something to eat. It just went downhill from there," said Crenshaw.

The family had only been on vacation a few hours, so you can believe their surprise when they walked out of the restaurant and the car was gone.

"It was my mom's car; that's why I was nervous," said Crenshaw.

Then Crenshaw and his mom, Pamela London, got the news. The car wasn't just stolen - it was currently in a high speed chase.

"I was just in shock," said London.

Police said Charles Love, who actually just got out of prison, was behind the wheel, pushing the Jeep to 120 mph.

Police said Love even hit a police and civilian car.

"Just seems like something out of a movie," said Crenshaw.

The chase ultimately ended with the car in flames and the suspect jumping into Mobile Bay.

The family has insurance and a way home. In the meantime, they plan to enjoy the rest of their vacation.

"After the children were okay, you count your blessings," said London.

When they do return to Tennessee, they are going to have one story to tell.

Love is facing a number of charges including reckless endangerment and receiving stolen property.
