MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) -  Family members told FOX10 News a Bay Minette woman who was hit by a train Monday is making some progress in the hospital.

Family members said 29-year-old Crystal Lambert has faced a lot of difficulties after train accident Monday night has left the young mother of four fighting for life.

Longtime friend Timothy Polk said Lambert and others were across from his house in Bay Minette just hours before the tragedy.

"They were over there. They were over there and huh drinking, having a good time, whatever.  That's the last time I seen her. They left out of here. I woke up the next day and heard it on the news," Polk said.

Joe Pearson is a relative by marriage. He and his wife got an update on Lambert's condition Wednesday morning.

"They said that she come through her surgery fine. She opened her eyes twice, and the doctor said that that was small baby steps for her," Pearson said. "They had to redo her arm because they found a piece of bone I believe that was left.  They had to go in and take the rest of that off.”

Sheriff's investigators said Lambert was lying on the tracks near Tall Pine Road and failed to respond to the trains horn and lights.

A home security camera near the scene showed Lambert and Dewayne Sprinkle about an hour before the accident.  They argued after running out of gas about a mile from the crossing.  Lambert left headed toward the tracks.

The family doesn't know much about the events leading up to Lambert getting hit by the train.  Pearson said they're just focused on her recovery.

"She's in our prayers, and we're hoping the best for her," he said.

Sprinkle was arrested on two outstanding traffic warrants after the accident.  He remains in the Baldwin County Jail Wednesday.

Sprinkle's arrest was not linked to the accident.
