Tuesday funeral for Catholic priest

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The Archdiocese of Mobile says the funeral Mass for Rev. Ernest Hyndman, Jr. will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in downtown Mobile, with burial to follow at Catholic Cemetery.
"Father Ernie", as he was known to friends, died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the rectory of St. Agatha Catholic Church in Bay Minette Tuesday morning. Mobile Police records show he also wounded himself in 2006 in the rectory of St. Dominic Catholic Church, where he was assigned at the time.
The Office for the Dead will take place Monday evening from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at St. Agatha.
The Archdiocese says in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Catholic Charities or Archangel Catholic Radio .
