SPANISH FORT, Ala. (WALA) - Store-owner Bobby Wilson was brutally murdered back in 2007. Friends collected more than $50,000 to give as a reward to anyone that could lead police to who was responsible. Now, four years later, that money is being returned to Wilson's supporters.
"I think the people who are over this reward - it's been about four years and they have to monitor the activity on the account - feel at this time there are no active leads being pursued," said Wilson's daughter Tracey Goens.
Goens said even though the money is no longer being offered, she still has hope.
"I'm not giving up. I feel one day justice will be served. Somebody, somewhere knows something and eventually it will come out," Goens said.
Goens said she remains in contact with the district attorney's office. She said the case is not closed.
"The last thing we were really told was that they're actually looking into the case and going back through the case. I don't know details, but I know they're still looking into things," Goens said.
Eric Buzbee was arrested and charged with the murder, but after two mistrials, a jury found Buzbee not guilty. Goens said it's been a rough road, but she's not seeing this recent development as a setback.
"My dad deserves justice, no matter how long - 10 years, 20 years, whatever," Goens said.
Baldwin County District Attorney Hallie Dixon announced in March of 2011 her office was taking a fresh look at the unsolved murder case. No further details on that investigation have been released.
