MOSS POINT, Miss. (AP) - A one-mile section of Interstate 10 in southern Mississippi has
been named in honor of a Moss Point police officer.
Officer Larry DeWayne Lee was killed in 2002 when a vehicle
being chased by another officer struck Lee's patrol car. Lee died
at the scene.
The section named in Lee's honor stretches from the
Mississippi 63 interchange to the Pascagoula River Bridge. The
state highway
department will erect and maintain two signs, one of each end
of the designated stretch.
The section is now named the Officer Larry DeWayne Lee
Memorial Highway.
