GEORGE COUNTY, Miss. (WALA) - Austin Stokes' mother said he will be going back to school Thursday, Oct. 24.

Stokes is a special needs student at George County High School, and he said last week an older student allegedly called him an inappropriate term and punched him in the face.

Stokes was left with a swollen eye, some cuts, bruises, and a chipped tooth.

Stokes' mother said he is improving. And a dentist in Ocean Springs caught wind of the story and volunteered to fix Stokes' chipped tooth for free.

Stokes had an appointment with the dentist Wednesday.

In light of the story, a mother of one of the football players asked Stokes if he wanted to ride the football float in this week's homecoming parade.

However, Stokes' mother said the principal said no.

Stokes' mother said her son was disappointed, so they went to the fair instead and had a good time.
