Authorities search for missing kayaker

OCEAN SPRINGS, Miss. (AP) - One body has been recovered and Mississippi authorities are looking for another after two empty kayaks were found adrift earlier this week.

The father-and-son kayakers had last been seen at the mouth of Biloxi Bay on Wednesday afternoon. But a shrimper later reported seeing two kayaks adrift that evening. The body of 57-year-old Ken Rainer was found near the mouth of Davis Bayou on Thursday. Twenty-two-year-old Nick Rainer is still missing and authorities are now characterizing the search as a recovery, rather than a rescue mission.

Family members and friends of the victims were keeping a vigil at the Ocean Springs harbor. Authorities said the search would continue throughout the day Saturday.
