LEAKESVILLE, Miss. (WALA) - The Leakesville, Miss., police department and Greene County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the sexual assault and beating of a minor that happened November 3 rd.

Authorities said a 15-year old girl was found unconscious and had been “left for dead” at Leakesville’s Magnolia Cemetery, Saturday.

“Some person texted her sister,” said Leakesville Police Chief Robert Feck. “They told her to come over there and pick her up.

Authorities said the victim was taken to USA medical center in mobile after she was stabilized in Greene County.

Police said they are limiting the information released, due to the nature of the alleged crime.

However, authorities believe it all began at a house party the teen attended Friday night.

Leakesville officials said they are looking at a number of young men who they believe were involved in the beating and sexual assault.

The district attorney’s office said it has also become involved in the case.

No word yet on the victim’s current condition.

While law enforcement officials said they are closing in on some “strong” leads, they are still requesting that anyone with information relevant to the investigation contact the Greene County Sheriffs Office at 601-394-2342.
