$150K bond set for Gildersleeve

Accused of trying to kill Antwan Odom

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - "It could have easily been a double homicide," said Mobile County's District Attorney to a judge Wednesday at the bond hearing for Tony Gildersleeve.

Gildersleeve told the judge he didn't have an attorney, and he wasn't sure about the charges against him.

District Attorney Ashley Rich said it was jealousy that drove Gildersleeve to enter Antwan Odom's home armed with a shotgun early Monday.

"This is one of the best videos we've ever seen," Rich said.

Rich said Gildersleeve is seen on video from surveillance cameras outside and inside the home.

"The defendant entered the residence, climbed over the fence in the back yard, entered the residence with a shot gun," she said.

There were no cameras inside the master bedroom where the football player was asleep with Tina Davis, a woman the D.A. described as Gildersleeve's "Baby's mama."

"The defendant is charged with attempted murder based on the fact that the defendant went in and shot into the bed where they were actually asleep, startling them. They made attempts to get away from the second shot, and luckily the second shot went into the center of the bed after they had rolled over to the side," Rich explained.

Rich said the suspect had lived in the football players home for a while but had been kicked out several weeks prior to the shooting.

Gildersleeve's family left the courtroom without commenting.

Bond was set at $150,000 for both charges. If he comes up with the cash, Gildersleeve was ordered to stay away from both Odom and Davis.

An arraignment is set for August 29.
