MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A Mobile teenager was taken into custody after he allegedly broke into a home with people inside. It didn't take long for the arrest to happen.

Mobile police said a 17-year-old went through a window of a home off of Zeigler Boulevard. The victim was at home and police said caught the teenager as he was leaving.

"The victim walked outside and saw a juvenile walking down the street. He walked up and confronted him. And that's when he reported that the juvenile produced a handgun and pointed it at the victim," said Cpl. Chris Levy.

Police said the victim then let the suspect go but it didn't take police long to find him.

"He didn't know the juvenile by name. He was familiar with him, and we started our investigation and followed up with him and went to his house and picked him up," Levy said.

Police said the suspect was taken to Strickland Youth Center. Investigators said it's important to remember this incident wasn't random.

"The juvenile did (know the victim). He was familiar with the person that lived there and the residence, so it wasn't random. He knew why he was going to the residence," said Levy.

Information about the juvenile was looking for is not being released. He is being charged with second-degree burglary and menacing.

FOX10 News attempted to contact the victim, but we were told he wasn't home.
