MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The Mobile County District Attorney's Office is investigating two separate cases of child sex abuse involving two children and four adults. One of the suspects says he is innocent.

Dawn Schaffer, 31, Melissa Hill, 18, and Steven Criswell, 18, are all behind bars. The trio is accused of sexually torturing and abusing a 10-year-old boy.

"Sexual has to do with using an object on a person under 12 by a person over 16 years of age with the intent to inflict sexual abuse / sexual torture. Very, very sad situation," said Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich. "It is hard to fathom things like this go on in our community. But they do (happen,) and we want to make sure that we prosecute the people who committed these acts against them."

Rich said the child was in their care at the time.

Hill and Criswell have a $20,000 bond. Dawn Schaffer faces an additional charge of sodomy and a $27,000.

This isn't the only case of sexual abuse against a child the DA's office is working.

Matthew Lischke is accused of sexually abusing a 5-year-old girl.

His wife, Melina Lischke, said it is not true.

"We both have taken lie detector test. Both passed, and we are drug tested; both passed," said Melina Lischke. "We always do everything together."

Lishcke told FOX10 News by phone the charges are fabricated by the state.

"Me and my wife are good people. I am innocent. I have done nothing wrong," said Matthew Lischke. "I have a mountain of evidence that proves our innocence."

Lischke is due back in court in July.
