PRICHARD, Ala. (WALA) - Prichard Police were called to Chickabouge Park because of an an alleged gun fight Sunday.

Upon arrival, authorities said officers made contact with two white males seated at a picnic bench in front of two tents. Investigators say both males, identified as Ronald Lewis and David Irwin, were questioned about the fight with guns.

Arlene Rollins said she has been going to the all her life.

"We were here when we were kids. We brought our kids here. We brought our grandchildren here," said Rollins.

But Wednesday, Rollins found out Prichard police discovered a meth lab in the park she loves.

"I was really shocked to hear that actually happened here in this park, where we always brought our children. But there is never really anywhere you can run. You just always keep your guard up,” said Rollins.

According to police, Lewis stated he was the renter of the campsite and gave written consent to search for the guns.

Officials said immediately after unzipping one of the tents, officers noticed a working meth lab

“It had some pills, several different types of pills, a grinder, and it had 100 small plastic baggies to put it in and three smoking pipes,” said Prichard Police Spokesperson Anita Havel Powell.

This is the second meth bust in the park this year. Authorities arrested a trio back in February after finding a meth lab in the trunk of their car. Visitors we spoke to said they won’t let the drug activity ruin their summer fun.

“We wouldn't have our kids here if we were worried," said Rollins.

The camp’s website said it trained security guards are on duty 24 hours a day, and they make regular patrols on the campground.
