MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Mobilepolice arrested three brothers Friday morning after a tip led them to find drugs and scales at a home on Tanglewood Dr.

‘This complaint was generated because we had information that they were selling marijuana,” said Cpl. Chris Levy with the Mobile Police Department.

Authorities say Carl Sewell, 26, and Mark Sewell, 20, were arrested and charged with trafficking marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Mobile Police executed a search warrant at the residence Friday morning.

Police say they found 11 grams of powder cocaine, worth an estimated $500. Authorities also found 2.4 pounds of marijuana, worth $3,000, 2 digital scales, and $532 in cash.

FOX10 caught up with a woman who identified herself as the boys’ mother. She says she was shocked to learn of the arrests.

“I mean I didn't think they would do anything like that,” she said. “I mean I still don't think, you know, nothing like that was going on.”

Police tell FOX10 News there were reports that the suspects had been selling drugs out of the home, which is only a few feet away from Matire Park.

A third brother, age 19, was also taken into custody. Police, however, say he will no longer be charged for the crime.

The Sewell brothers are expected in court Monday morning.
