MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A memorial is being held in honor of Cynthia McCoy at First Church of the Nazarene Sunday afternoon.

In the meantime, Mobile police are still looking for the person who murdered the young mother. McCoy was found shot to death inside her Azalea Pointe apartment on Labor Day.

Police said the only witnesses are her two young children, who were found in the apartment with her blood on them. Cook's mother, Wynne Shamburger said the children, one and two-year-olds, were found at the foot of the bed, attempting to wake their mother up. She said the children are in the hands of the state now.

"They are in DHR custody now, I don't know when we will be able to see them," she said.

Shamburger said the crime is horrifying and she is bitter and angry, but she is also hopeful that justice will be served for her daughter. She believes McCoy knew the person(s) who killed her.

She said, "I just wish somebody would come forward. Somebody will slip somewhere, this is not going to be forgotten at all until she is brought to justice."
