MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Police said two victims were sitting on a front porch on Mimosa Drive Friday night, October 12, when three teens approached them with guns.
One of the victims said the teens walked up to his front gate with their guns drawn and demanded property. The victim said he ran inside the house while his friend ran down the street.
“When my brother ran in the house, he said someone was trying to rob him. That’s when I got my kids to the floor,” said a sister of one of the victims.
Then, the sound of gunshots rang through the air.
“I heard the first one, and that’s when I really got scared. And I was just trying to get my kids to the floor,” the sister said.
The victim inside the home said he looked through a window of the house and saw his friend fall to the ground. The victim and his sister ran outside to help their friend and called police. The victim had been shot in the chest.
The victim was taken to Springhill Hospital in critical condition.
This shooting comes a day after Mobile art curator Wayne McNei l was shot multiple times while in his front yard on Glenwood Street in midtown.
Police said it happened just after midnight Thursday. McNeil was taken to USA Medical Center where he is in stable condition.
