MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Alabama State Troopers arrested 21-year-old Hailey Alexis Howard after they said she struck and killed a pedestrian with her vehicle early Thursday, November 15.

The crash remains under investigation, but troopers said they believe that alcohol was a factor.

"Just investigators talking to her and interviewing her, they were able to come to the conclusion that she was under the influence of alcohol," said Alabama State Trooper Sgt. Joe Piggott.

Investigators said the fatal crash happened at 2:50 a.m. on Theodore-Dawes Road at the intersection of Helton Road.

The pedestrian was identified as A43-year-old lison Lyn Collier of Milton, Fla. She was transported to Providence Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

According to reports, Collier was a passenger in a non-involved vehicle and had exited the car prior to being struck.

Howard was booked into Mobile Metro Jail and charged with one count of manslaughter.

FOX10 spoke with Howard's family members who said they are currently seeking legal counsel.
