MOBILE, Ala. - Got too many phone books? Declare your independence from the old one this 4th of July.
Everyone should have their new AT & T Real Yellow Pages telephone directories by now so it is time to recycle the old ones.
Keep Mobile Beautiful wants everyone to know how easy it is to recycle their old directories.
For the location nearest you visit www.cityofmobile.org. Click on "Living in Mobile" then "Recycling" then click on the link to the map showing the locations.
"Recycling old phone books just makes good sense," says Bob Haskins of Keep Mobile Beautiful. "They are 100% recyclable and printed on recycled paper. To find out more about the nationwide recycling efforts of Keep America Beautiful visit www.kab.org or call 1-877-887-3292."
In Mobile County alone 238,000 books were delivered to area business and residential customers.
Each book weighs 2.972 pounds which means a total of 707,574 pounds of books have been delivered. Since the 2008 books weigh about the same then we should recycle an equal amount.
Please recycle your old directory today. Declare your independence.
