MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Police said on January 12, 2013, Katherine Barnett reported she had been robbed at knife point at Polaris Drive and Highway 90 by a female driving a cream colored vehicle.

According to reports, she alleged the suspect took her cell phone, called her shortly thereafter and tried
to extort money from her to return the cell phone. She also claimed her mother was robbed by the
female when she went to meet with the female to get the phone.

Police said an investigation revealed that Barnett lied about the events. She was charged with false reporting to law enforcement.
