MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Search teams were in a remote part of Mobile County Tuesday, January 29, looking for missing teen Brittany Robinson.
The search group, escorted by Mobile Police, brought their dogs to the area of McCleod and McCovery roads, near where Robinson’s father lives.
Robinson, who turned 15 on Sunday, has been missing since June 2012.
Her mother, Tiana Hogue, told FOX10 she is still hopeful that her daughter is alive.
“Is she eating? Is she being treated fairly? It's been very hard holiday after holiday, day after day,” said Hogue.
Hogue said in June, Robinson spent a few days with her estranged father Demetric Hooper. She had been trying to reconnect with Hooper. Authorities said that was the last time anyone saw Robinson.
Hooper was arrested months later in Arkansas and extradited back to Mobile for interfering with custody.
“We consider him to be a flight risk due to the fact that he had fled the state of Alabama, and he was apprehended months later and we had to extradite him back to the state of Alabama to face these charges,” said Mobile County District Attorney Ashley Rich. “He did not come willingly.”
Hooper remains in jail after he was denied bail Tuesday, October 30.
Hogue told FOX10 she believes he has information about the case.
"The things that he has done and the things that he has said and the way that he has reacted to the whole situation, not even concerned about Brittany's well being,” she said. “At this point, yes I do. I do believe that."
Hooper was appointed defense attorney Joseph Dennis. He told FOX10 news Hooper denies any involvement in Robinson’s disappearance.
