FORT MORGAN, Ala. - Cyndi Harris had been waiting since three o'clock in the morning for word about her husband 43 year old Chris Harris.
Harris said her husband left with their 16 year old son and brother-in-law around 6:30pm Friday for a fishing trip off the coast of Fort Morgan.
By 8:30 all three were in trouble.
"It started taking on water, and it was kind of rough. They tried to crank it to get out, bu the water just drowned the motor. The boat sank." she said.
The group was fishing on an oil rig you when the boat started taking on water. By the time the boat sank they had to swim to shore. The 16 year old was the first to make to shore. It was about a 1/2 mile swim.
"My son made it to shore, and my brother made it to shore. They still searching for my husband." Harris said.
The Coast Guard, the sheriff's flotilla, and even people in private boats spent the day searching the waters.
Danny Harris said his brother was a pretty good swimmer. He thinks he should have been able to make the swim to shore too.
"Yeah, I believe he could have. Something had to happen between the boat going down and here." Danny Harris said.
"My son said that his dad was hanging on to an ice chest and he was hollering for his dad to come get him. He let go of the ice chest and he didn't see him after that." Cyndi Harris said.
Mrs. Harris said searcher found all of the coolers that were on the boat, and her husbands shoes.
