MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The city of Mobile certainly let loose on Fat Tuesday.
Revelers packed the streets of downtown to celebrate Mardi Gras the best way they know how.
“We hang out with all of our friends and try to catch as many beads as we can,” said one reveler.
“Mostly you have to come as wild as you can because it's tradition here in Mobile, and it's wild, and we’ll do it until we die,” said another.
For many who attend the events downtown, Fat Tuesday is also about the floats.
The Order of Myths put on the final parade Tuesday night. Hundreds yelled for beads, toys, and of course MoonPies.
“Keep the beads just give me the MoonPie,” said one man after the parade.
Revelers said it's all in good fun. Many said time is running out for all the over-eating and bead-wearing.
In just a few short hours after the final parade, the city of Mobile would switch gears from Fat Tuesday to Ash Wednesday.
“Tomorrow is Ash Wednesday, and you have to give up something you really like to do for 40 days,” said one parade-goer.
Until that time, hundreds hit the town following the parades to enjoy the final hours of Fat Tuesday.
“Let the good times roll,” yelled several groups.
