MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - The City of Mobile will see an economic boost now that Airbus' first confirmed supplier is coming to the port city.

Labinal announced it will locate in the Brookley Aeroplex and hire about 50 people.

Mobile Mayor Sam Jones said the average starting salary is about $70,000.

Officials said Airbus' first confirmed supplier will pave the way for future development, which means more jobs for everyone.

"I think it sort of sets the stage for the whole supplier constellation that will develop around the Airbus facility,” said Brookley Areoplex Executive Director Bill Sisson.

Alabama Industrial Development Training will be handling the hiring for the company.

"At this point we are still working with the company trying to get details put together but as far as jobs...we will be posting them on our website,” AIDT Assistant Director South Alabama Lee Hammett.

Sisson said Safran will move into an old manufacturing building on the Areoplex grounds. The building will undergo major renovations.

“We can continue to improve the facilities, improve the aesthetics and really get this to the world class level that we envision for Brookley and for  the Mobile Bay reigon,” said Sisson.

Safran engineering service is a French aerospace company, and it produces wiring for aircrafts.
