Ala. fishing rodeo breaks world record

DAUPHIN ISLAND, Ala. (WALA) - The bad weather didn't stop a huge crowd from attending this year's fishing rodeo. The Alabama Deep Sea Fishing Rodeo now holds the 2011 Guinness World Record for fishing rodeo participation.
The tournament wrapped up just after 5 p.m. Sunday. That's when the Guinness World Records began to count the number of participants in the tournament.
The fishing tournament sold over 3,200 tickets. Assuming those tickets are returned by the fishermen, they’ll pass the previous number by about 1,000.
This is a good sign for the Gulf Coast since the 2010 rodeo had to be cancelled due to last year's oil spill.
