MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - Officials with the Alabama Department of Transportation are taking action to try to ease a potentially dangerous problem on Interstate 65 in Mobile.

Motorists said they have had rocks kicked up on their cars as they drove through a construction area on I-65 southbound, between Moffett Road and Government Boulevard.

Alicia Reeves said she drives to work through the area every weekday, and the rocks have damaged the windshield and body of her Jeep.

She said, "You can't really see it on the camera, but (when) the sun glistens, there are 200 to 300 hits on my windshield."

Wednesday, FOX10 News called the Alabama Department of Transportation, where an official told us the work was being done by Mobile Asphalt, a contractor.

We went to that office, and were told that drivers with damage should contact Safety Plus on Halls Mill Road, a loss control agency.

We went there, too, but a spokesperson told us that motorists should contact the Transportation Department.

Reeves is determined to get someone to pay for the damages.

She said, "(The Jeep is) mine and it’s been paid for, and I don't want it damaged every morning on my way to work."

Wednesday afternoon, Department of Transportation officials told FOX10 work crews with Mobile Asphalt will be clearing the rocks off Interstate 65 Wednesday evening.
