MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - BayFest is officially in full swing. Thousands gathered in downtown Mobile listening to some of the biggest names and music legends.

Loverboy started the evening off on the AT&T stage followed by Pat Benatar and Journey closed out the night.

Music fans camped out in line waiting to get in. The man in the front of the line secured his spot at noon.

At 6:30 on the dot, the gates opened for BayFest 2012. People couldn't wait to get in; some were even running once their tickets were scanned.

“This is my second year. I just love country music and they do too," said one.

Why were they rushing? Everyone was looking to snag the get the best seat in the house, the front row.

“This is the best seat. We can like feel them breathe on us. That’s pretty awesome," said a group that rushed to the front to see Pat Benatar.

In between shows, there is still stuff to do. You can stop by and see Ed Bratton.

“I sell cowboy hats, purses and wallets," said Bratton.

Or charge your phone at the AT&T clean charging station for free. It's fully solar powered.

This was just day one and there is certainly more to come.
