Bike tour to see homes for sale?

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A local realtor is hoping to cash in on the growing cycling trend in midtown Mobile.

Parris Walker said the Mobile Rides cycling group contacted her about organizing a bike tour of homes for sale in the midtown area.

More than two dozen people turned out for tour of four historic homes for sale.

Walker said midtown weathered the bursting of the housing bubble better than others.  She also said the local housing market seems to be turning around.

"Since the beginning of the year, we've seen a huge increase. (We’ve seen) a very big increase in home sales, especially, particularly, in actual home-buyers, owner occupant sales, as opposed to investments," Walker said.

Walker said the bike tour is a great way to show people how easy and enjoyable it is to get around by bike in mid-town.
