MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - It's one of the busiest travel days of the year. While some of you are simply planning a trip to the grocery store, others have been traveling for days to get to their Thanksgiving destination. FOX10 News caught up with some of them passing through Mobile Wednesday.
The Greyhound bus station isn’t the first place that comes to mind when you think Thanksgiving, but for some, it makes the holiday possible.
John Gomez has been on and off of a bus since Monday. His destination is Port St. Lucie, Florida.
"(I’ll arrive at) 5 in the morning. I'm going to surprise my parents. They don't know yet," said Gomez.
Gomez is coming from New Mexico, and said nothing was going to keep him from home.
"Cause of the family, always good to be around your family. The food is great, I've been away for awhile. Can't wait to eat," Gomez said.
James Brooks is traveling from Texas, and said going by bus isn't that bad.
"It's less of a headache, you can kick back and relax," Brooks said.
Brooks arrives at his destination at the next stop. Forente Verrette is from St. Louis, he too, is taking advantage of the ride.
"Sitting back, relaxing, I reclined and fell asleep," said Verrette.
It may not be the first place you think of when it comes to the holidays, but this place brings families together.
