MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) - A candlelight vigil is planned to remember Mobile Police Officer Steven Green. Officer Green was killed in the line of duty on Friday, February 3.

The vigil is planned for Saturday, February 25 which would have been Officer Green's 37th birthday. It will be held at Cathedral Square from 5:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Officer Green was escorting Lawrence Wallace to the Mobile County Metro Jail, when Wallace stabbed Officer Green and took off in his patrol car.

Wallace was killed three hours later, ending a standoff on Daytona Drive.

Wallace was arrested and charged with attempting to rob the Dollar General store on North Schillinger Road in Mobile on the same day.

The family tells FOX10 News they appreciate all of the support from the public in their time of grieving.
