EIGHT MILE, Ala. (WALA) - The city of Prichard will hold a meeting Tuesday regarding the smell in Eight Mile caused by the release of the chemical mercaptan into the air and water.

The Alabama Department of Environmental Management and the Enviromental Protection Agency as well as the Mobile County Health Department will be at Highpoint Baptist Church in Eight Mile.

Prichard officials say the community meeting will provide ample opportunity for questions and answers and officials from the above agencies will discuss the results of environmental studies conducted in reference to the mercaptan release.

Highpoint Baptist Church is located at 2421 Lott Road in Eight Mile and anyone with questions can call (251) 583-4648.
